How the program debates

Cal State Fullerton’s Human Communication Studies department identifies forensics as a student organization and operates an intercollegiate debate team. The Fall 2026 College of Communications bulletin lists two $1,000 debate scholarships for returning undergraduates who compete in policy debate: the Lucy M. Keele award and the Robert Gass award, which prefers varsity National Debate Tournament participation. The bulletin also lists scholarships for students actively involved in the broader Forensics Program. The official pages checked do not provide a practice schedule, tournament travel support or dated 2025–26 or 2026–27 competition result.

Scholarships
The Fall 2026 bulletin lists a $1,000 Lucy M. Keele Debate Scholarship and a $1,000 Robert Gass Debate Scholarship for returning undergraduate policy debaters. The Gass award prefers varsity NDT competitors; both require full-time enrollment and at least one year of prior high-school or policy-debate experience. The bulletin says the application year is 2026–27 and the deadline is March 1.Source
