How the program debates

Casper College’s Forensics Team trains students in research, argument, public speaking and performance through intercollegiate competition. Debate options include parliamentary and Lincoln-Douglas, alongside limited-preparation, platform and interpretation events. The team says it typically travels to four or five tournaments each semester across the Rocky Mountain region and culminates its community-college season at Phi Rho Pi nationals. At the completed September 2026 Fran Tanner Invitational, Casper won the community-college sweepstakes and placed fourth overall; its debaters also earned gold and bronze in novice IPDA. Any Casper College student with at least 12 credits can ask a coach about joining, and prior experience is not required. Members must maintain a 2.5 GPA and take at least 12 credits each semester; first-semester participants enroll in CO/M 1060, with CO/M 2060 in the second year. Scholarships are available through the program page.
