How the program debates

The Howling Yotes center their competition on British Parliamentary debate, where four two-person teams rank against one another in each round. The College of Idaho welcomes students from every major and class year. Incoming students may apply for competitive debate scholarships; the college encourages applicants at every experience level and describes regular practice, travel tournaments and research assignments as scholarship expectations. The team also uses other debate formats for civic and campus events. The college traces its debate history to at least 1912 and reports that the team has ranked in the national top 20 each year since 2013.
