How the program debates

Georgia College’s Speech and Debate Team combines tournament training with public-facing civil discourse. It practices on Monday evenings in Terrell Hall, welcomes students with no previous debate experience and competes in IPDA and National Parliamentary Debate Association formats. At the University of Alabama tournament in fall 2026, Georgia College debater Mason Nixon won the novice IPDA tournament championship. The program also receives support from the Dr. Robert E. “Buzz” Lee Endowed Civil Discourse Fund.
