How the program debates

The Oregon State University Forensics Team competes in individual events and International Public Debate Association (IPDA) debate. The program has a long history at Oregon State and travels to regional tournaments across the Pacific Northwest, as well as national and international competitions. The team pays registration, transportation, housing, and most meal costs for competitions, reducing financial barriers to participation. Students of any experience level, major, or year are encouraged to join; prospective members can contact the director or stop by practice. At the January 2026 Fred Scheller Invitational, OSU debaters competed in novice, junior, and open IPDA divisions and recorded a junior-division quarterfinal finish.
