How the program debates

Pepperdine Waves Debate is a co-curricular program housed in Seaver College’s Communication Division. It welcomes Seaver undergraduates across majors, including students with no prior debate experience, and organizes its work across competitive and civic debate cohorts. Its British Parliamentary team competes at intercollegiate tournaments; the program also competes in the Social Justice Debates series, which emphasizes researched arguments on a shared annual theme. Pepperdine won its first Social Justice Debates national championship in 2026. In fall 2026, the team returned from the St. Ignatius Dialogues with several top placements, including two novice-division finishes.
