How the program debates

Point Loma Nazarene University’s Speech and Debate Team competes in one-on-one IPDA and two-person NPDA parliamentary debate alongside individual forensics events. The program’s history includes national-level success in both formats; at the 2025 International Forensics Association World Championship, PLNU debaters co-championed IPDA and reached the NPDA final. The team also hosts the Sunset Cliffs Classic, a multi-format collegiate tournament with novice and advanced debate divisions. Students interested in joining can contact the Director of Forensics through PLNU’s official team and faculty pages. PLNU entered IPDA and NPDA at the completed October 2026 Sunset Cliffs Classic.
