How the program debates

Western Washington University’s Debate Union combines collegiate parliamentary debate with a long-running policy program. Students help shape partner choices, arguments and tournament selection, while coaches guide preparation. The team welcomes beginners and uses an effort-based standard that prioritizes preparation and improvement when allocating travel opportunities. Debate is co-curricular and may be taken for academic credit. Western entered CARD junior varsity at the completed October 2026 Weber State Debate Classic and faced Salt Lake Community College in round one.
