How the program debates

Whitman College’s debate program focuses exclusively on parliamentary debate and participates in the National Parliamentary Debate Association and National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence. During the 2025–26 season, Whitman reached the Final Four at the NPDA Championship and placed third in the season-long sweepstakes; the team also won a championship in NPDA-style debate at the 2026 Pi Kappa Delta national convention. The program welcomes prospective students through its team page. Incoming students may apply for a debate scholarship regardless of prior debate format, with team participation required for recipients.
