How the program debates

The William Pitt Debating Union combines competitive NFA Lincoln-Douglas debate with public forums and community outreach. Housed in Pitt’s Department of Communication, the Union traces its roots to the university’s Division of Public Speaking in 1912. Interested students can arrange a visit and conversation with a coach through the official joining page.

At the 2025 NFA-LD Washburn Warm Up, the WPDU varsity division won the tournament and its junior-varsity division finished second.
